CSLL - Challenger Baseball
- Visit the Facebook Group page for further information
Challenger Baseball's mission is to provide an opportunity for individuals with intellectual and physical challenges to enjoy the benefits of Little League participation in an environment structured to their abilities. Originally created in 1989 as a separate division of Little League Baseball, the Challenger program was expanded in 2015 with the introduction of the Senior League Challenger Division. Individuals ages 4-18 can participate in the Little League Challenger Division while individuals ages 15 and above (no maximum age) may participate in the Senior League Challenger Division.
Teams can include as many as 15 players, who can participate in one of three levels: Tee-Ball, Coach-Pitch or Player Pitch. Each player gets a chance at bat. The side is retired when the offense has batted through the roster. No score is kept during games. Challenger players wear the same uniforms, shoulder patches and safety equipment as other Little League players.
One of the benefits of having a Challenger Division is that it encourages the use of "buddies" for Challenger players. The buddies assist Challenger players on the field but whenever possible, encourage the players to bat and make plays themselves. However, the buddy is always nearby to help when needed.

FAQs
Who can play?
Individuals with intellectual and physical challenges ages 4-18 in the Little League Challenger Division and ages 15 and above in the Senior League Challenger Division
Where do you play?
Goose Gossage Youth Sports Park 3950 Mark Dabling Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO
When is your season?
For 2024, the season will start August 4th and end on September 22nd.
When are games played?
Games will be played on Sunday mornings. Sundays provide us the most flexibility as we are not competing with the league for fields. Most importantly, it allows us to take as much time as we need to play the games without being rushed off the field…or having to wait for the games before us to end. We will have an eight-game season this year highlighted by one Friday night game under the lights. There will not be a game during Labor Day weekend.
How often do you practice?
There are no practice sessions for the Challenger Leagues.
How much does it cost to register?
The cost is $35. Please ask about our scholarship program if cost is an issue. We have a limited amount, but we want to try to make sure everyone gets a chance to play.
Where are your boundaries?
Since there are no other bordering Challenger programs in our city we do not have to reside inside the same boundary areas as the rest of little league. So for now pretty much anyone between Pueblo and South Denver who wants to play can join us.
